Our Nutrition Lead Helen Cooke will speak to the Friends about the impact nutrition and food can have on health and wellbeing, and what we can do to positively address imbalances and recurring problems.
Helen has previously helped to deliver the Portland Centre’s Food for Wellbeing course at Bakesmiths, and now delivers a Nutrition for Wellbeing clinic as part of the Associate Therapist team. She is also involved in Kitchen on Prescription.
We’re happy (and hungry) to announce details of our next Friends for Wellbeing event: a nutrition talk!
On 1st July the Clifton Library on Princess Victoria Street, Bristol, will host a talk on the impact nutrition and food can have on our health and wellbeing. We will also discuss how to positively address imbalances and recurring problems through diet.

Are you stuck trying to lose weight? Perhaps you have a long term illness or deficiency that you want to address naturally through your diet? Our Nutrition Lead Helen Cooke can help!
As well as speaking about the role of nutrition in good health and wellbeing, Helen will give an overview of the Portland Centre’s nutrition approach – the Portland Pyramid – and explain the health benefits of the different categories (including which oils and types of fibre are best). She will also give an introduction to the amazing health benefits of beneficial bacteria and how we can introduce these into our daily diet.
Helen will be sure to allow plenty of opportunity for discussion and there will be a 20 minute Q&A slot.
The Portland Centre will soon launch a Holistic Doctor clinic in Bristol. This new referral network will provide patients with the chance to see a qualified conventional and complementary medical professional, who will suggest a treatment and provide access to a wide variety of holistic practitioners in Bristol under a ‘whole person care’ banner.
